Jean Luyens
Marine painter
Born in Ostend in 1932, Jean Luyens grew up surrounded by sailors and the sea. Trained in England and then at the Saint-Luc Institute in Ghent, he combined a career as a graphic designer and later advertising art director with his first love: painting.
A member of the former Association of Belgian Painters of the Sea, and of the Association of Belgian Marine Painters from 1997, he excelled in "very British" watercolours of yachts of yesteryear, delicate waves and endless horizons. He exhibited in Brussels, Ostend and England.
